Adding Electricity

So I’ve had the kennel that I built for a year now! My dogs, a chihuahua and great Dane don’t use the kennel like they were supposed to, but they use it nonetheless. My great Dane sleeps with his head in the chihuahua’s kennel and his body on the balcony, and my chihuahua sleeps in my great Dane’s kennel. I guess at least they’re using it. Doing things against the grain is a part of my dogs’ charm anyway.

So a year on, you may be wondering why I’m mentioning my dog kennel again. It’s because I’ve had a genius idea! I’m going to add power to the kennel, to give them a little night light and maybe a heater of some sort. My chihuahua especially needs some sort of heater to keep her warm, now that she sleeps in a massive kennel every night that wasn’t designed to keep her warm.

I’m going to go back to the best hardware store in Bayside this afternoon and see if they can help me with electrical kennel ideas. I wonder if many people put electricity in their dogs’ kennels? Probably not, but not many people would have a great Dane and a chihuahua as pets either. When the world zigs, I zag. It’s always been that way.

Now, before anyone reading my blog gets concerned – don’t worry, I’m not doing my own electrical work. I’ll hire an experienced electrician to do all the wiring and make sure it works, but I’m going to buy the high-quality electrical supplies in the Cheltenham area myself. I’m obviously keen to save money where I can because being the dog dad of two dogs can get pretty expensive.

I love my dogs more than anything in the world. I want to give them the best in life and that means upgrading their kennels at every opportunity. My great Dane and chihuahua are the best!
